10) What do I need on my vehicle to tow a trailer?
Towing a single axle trailer:
Your vehicle will need:
-hitch,
-ball mount
-2” ball. (some single axle trailers take a 1 7/8” ball)
-4 pin wiring harness to connect lights
** the 2” ball can be attached to the bumper if the vehicle will accept one. Check the bumper rating before using***
Towing a tandem axle trailer:
Your vehicle will need:
-hitch
-ball mount
- 2 5/16 ball
- 7 pin wiring harness to connect all electrical systems
- Brake Controller to activate electric trailer brakes.
*** you may need to add a Weight Distribution and Sway Control system if your vehicle is struggling to tow the trailer because of size or weight****
